We went there on a Saturday night before the symphony. My family has been going to the symphony for years and always try and find a different restaurant to go to, in order to try something new.
We had a party of 20 and SoleLuna didn't disappoint whatsoever. We were seated right away and Jennifer (our server) came and greeted us right away. We were still waiting for others in our group to arrive so we ordered some drinks and enjoyed the exterior decor. It was a little cold out but they had wonderful propane heaters strategically placed and all throughout their patio.
The rest of our party arrived and we placed our order. With that many people, it really was a great opportunity to try a little of everything on their menu. Let me tell you, they didn't disappoint. My daughter had the pancetta flatbread and my son had the fettuccine Alfredo with chicken. My niece had the pepperoni pizza and I had one of their strawberry and walnut salads, with their homemade dressing. AMAZING!
Jennifer was very attentive, courteous, and extremely knowledgeable of their menu and how everything was prepared.
Of course we had to order dessert and coffee after, which was equally delicious as dinner. Several people in our group had the house made cannoli's while others had the lava cake, both absolutely delicious.
Did I mention how wonderful Jennifer was???
All in all, it was a wonderful experience and delicious meal. I will definitely be back and way sooner than next year's symphony.
Thanks again Jennifer and staff for making our annual symphony tradition a memorable one. -

The gnocchi nonna rosa, a cream sauce-based gnocchi, was SO GOOD. I can be picky about gnocchi (insert all the stereotypes about kids who study abroad in college here) and it didn't disappoint.
We happened to come on half price bottle night so we split a bottle of cab sauv for about $13. Bread is free, served with oil & vinegar. We got a bruschetta starter as well (it's vegan here, for anyone who needs that info) and it was definitely garlicky but tasty. The bread & the bruschetta were plentiful, as was the gnocchi. It's the worst when you order gnocchi and get, like, ten pieces. This was definitely a good serving, and delicious.
Plus we got to sit outside in the cute little patio area to dine al fresco. Definitely a win all around! -

We went to try SoleLuna out for Restaurant Week. My wife is gluten-free, but the menu indicated GF options were available. We had reservations via OpenTable and were sat immediately. Unfortunately that was the only thing that went well.
When we received the menu, only 2 items were marked as GF. I asked if they could clarify with the chef if some of the menu items that did not have pasta were GF. With an attitude, they did ask and indicated the dish she wanted was GF.
My wife ordered the tuna and I ordered the sausage/mushroom gnocchi. Attempt 1 at the tuna was a complete fail. First, the waiter brought it out saying the chef wasn't sure about the seasoning so he made it plain. My wife was confused since she distinctly told them it would be fine when ordering, but of course, they knew better. The tuna steak was flavorless and overrcooked. It was returned and round 2 was improved.
My gnocchi was OK, but missing basic seasoning and Parmesan. The ratio of sausage/mushrooms/gnocchi was off - there was essentially 4 pieces of sausage to about 60 mushrooms and 40 gnocchi. Again, just OK in flavor missing any seasoning.
Service was fairly slow. It was pretty busy and there were only 2 wait staff. I don't fault the wait staff - just poorly staffed for restaurant week.
I will not be back. There are too many other great restaurants in San Diego to pay for under-seasoned food with marginal service. -

First time visit and enjoyed SDRW with friends. Our server Jenny/Jennifer was AMAZING (5 Stars!!!!). The vegan options weren't as extensive as we were told they'd be when we called & made the reservation...and both the vegan and regular food items we had were only "good" at best...not delicious, decadent, or noteworthy. They were out of stock on several SDRW menu items, so that was annoying too. We were VERY limited on what we could order on the already very limited SDRW menu.......so that took a lot of the fun & adventure away from our dinner experience. Jenny did her BEST to make up for the disappointments. Wish our experience was better, because it's a cute little place with lots of potential.

We stumbled onto this cafe. There was an hour wait at the place we wanted to eat at... so this was a happy plan B. There weren't a lot of people so we were sat quickly. We ordered and got our food quickly! I got the avocado toast with a side of roasted potatoes. It was amazing!!! And the perfect amount of food. We read a few reviews and didn't know what to expect but dang we loved it!
I recommend this lovely little place!! Get the avocado toast!
